New Learning Standards for Kindergartners
It’s September and it’s time for your child to go to kindergarten. She bought school supplies, a new backpack, new clothes and new shoes. On your first day at school, you are so happy for your wonderful kindergartner! But when you come to school, it is quite obvious that he is not as excited as you are. This school is much larger than your kindergarten. It is full of the unknown. And he definitely doesn’t want you to leave!
The beginning of school is one of the most important transitions in a child’s life
There is a sense of excitement and apprehension. For some, this is the first time they have been separated from their parents. This is also the time when they will be in charge of learning new things. It is incredibly important for parents to relieve anxiety and increase positive emotions about attending school. It is our job as parents to foster physical, emotional and psychological readiness for kindergarten.
Many children will not allow her parents to leave her in the classroom with a teacher for several weeks in her kindergarten year at kindergarten chiang mai. There are many books about kindergarten that help kids with ABC and 123 and they are very helpful. But when a child needs to feel comfortable being dropped in class, he needs a book to take him through the year in kindergarten and help him get used to the fact that his parents are doing it.
With over 25 years of experience working with children and two of them as assistant kindergarten teacher, I can tell you that your child’s first days and weeks in kindergarten can be a smooth transition. There were many kids in my kindergarten who just needed to be ready for kindergarten by telling them what to expect so that I could feel safe walking into class.
What will the first day be like?
What will we learn? What kind of excursions will we conduct? More importantly, will anyone at school think I’m special? Who will I spend time with at school? What happens in the classroom throughout the year?
Make sure to read as many children’s books as possible to your child. Look for books that cover every aspect of the school year. Take your child to school and walk with him through the different classes where they will spend time. Present it to the principal, secretary, teachers and teacher assistants. This will give them the best possible start to the school year, helping them to feel comfortable in their new environment.
