Richard's new solo album will be launched at the Pleasance Theatre, Islington, London on Friday September 19th.

"RECUERDOS -Guitar Classics" (LongMan049DAVD) includes works by Tarrega, Albeniz, Yocoh, Granados & Bach as well as Stanley Myers' 'Cavatina' and Richard's popular solo 'The Walrus Tree'. The recording was produced by Charles Ramirez and mixed in Surround Sound at SRT in Cambridgeshire.

Galactic Symphonies DAVD

In 2007 Richard was comissioned to write and record an album with Californian poet Stephen J Kalinich. The resulting double sided CD/DVD (DAVD) is being released at the Brighton Festival Fringe during the weekend of 24th May (click here for gig details)

Stephen Kalinich is widely known for his work as lyricist for Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys. He has also collaborated with dozens of big names as well as performing his poetry live.

Galactic Symphonies uses six of Stephen's poems with Richard's soundscapes & live guitar improvisations. The symphonies are performed with projected artwork and live vj-ing by digital artist Malcolm Buchanan-Dick. This combination was used as the basis for the DVD when a performance was filmed at Ropetacle Arts Centre in December 2007.

UPDATE - After the Brighton Festival gigs Stevie was nominated for "Best Male Artist" in the Brighton Festival Fringe.

English Village Music Part 1

A mix of the most popular music from the BBC television series "A VERY ENGLISH VILLAGE" is now available as a download from the LongMan Records shop by clicking here.

Luke Holland's hugely popular documentary series was originally shown on BBC4 in 2006 and has just been repeated on primetime BBC2. Richard's music was a combination of specially written tracks and extracts from his album "Music from the Colourdome".

Colourdome & Guitarra Latina now digitised

The latest LongMan albums to be available as downloads are Richard Durrant's experimental 2005 release "Music from the Colourdome" and the classic album of Villa-Lobos and Barrios "La Guitarra Latina" (2000).

Muisc from the Colourdome is: "An ambient virtuoso guitar album with a sting in the tail...an effortless blend of classical, jazz, electro/acoustic and world music". It was featured in the BBC2 documentary "A very English village".
