Last weekend saw Brighton's Argus newspaper using Richard as the cover story of their weekend section. With a circulation of over 40,000 this brought a smile to the office at LongMan Records, ever keen to promote Richard's new album "Recuerdos".
In the event the article focussed on the more bizarre events of the last few years including Richard dropping lobsters on parachutes from a helicopter. All in a day's work for RD!
The unfortunate tabloid coverage of the Kate Bush/EMI saga was also mentioned yet again. This was a bit sad as Richard has always been a big fan and the way the press dressed up this non-story was a bit of a farce. But that wasn't really the fault of the Argus - the story was picked up by the red tops who gave poor old Kate a bit of a drubbing.
The Argus Weekend coverage was much apreciated though. The latest in several appearances in the paper which started with Richard planting a tree on Buxted Rise, Hollingbury with his Mum, sisters and a few mates back in 1972. "Children replace trees destroyed by vandals" screamed the headline. In actual fact the group of kids just fancied planting a tree...
