    Acoustic Magazine Review
    Friday, January 30 2009 @ 08:18 AM GMT

Here is the latest review of Richard's "RECUERDOS - Guitar Classics" album.

“At first glance, Recuerdos could easily be picked up and labelled as just another collection of popular classics. On the contrary, Richard Durrant’s latest album deserves the utmost respect. Each song displays both a flawless and mesmerising acoustic translation, of which a significant portion of the credit must go to ‘The Richard Durrant Concert Guitar’. This is the instrument’s debut recording, and for many fans marks as an answer to their prayers.”

    UK Tour 2009
    Tuesday, January 27 2009 @ 10:47 AM GMT

Richard Durrant is about to begin his most extensive tour yet of UK venues. The gigs begin in March with visits to Devon, Sussex, Yorkshire, East Riding and Hampshire. The fun continues with children's sessions, arts centres, festivals and open air gigs. There's even a solo appearance at a summer Punk Rock Festival, a collaboration with a leading particle physicist(!) and a tour in September with Chris Spedding and Herbie Flowers. The year will end with a run of Candlelit Christmas Recitals in beautiful venues.

The groundwork for this tour was done last year when the Guitar Whisperer Show appeared at over 50 UK venues (two days after Richard's appearance at the Albert Hall with the RPO last May he played the GW Show in the New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich; that gig has just appeared in Grapevine Magazine as one of the Top Ten gigs in East Anglia for 2008). This was also the year that RD appeared on the front cover of Classical Guitar Magazine, Brighton Argus Weekend Magazine and recieved a 5 Star Review in ClassicFM Magazine for his latest album "Recuerdos - Guitar Classics". You can hear his ClassicFM Podcast here.

Richard's record label "LongMan Records" is about to release "White Butterflies" the debut album from the supremely talented Terry Emm. The album, produced by Richard, has just been given 5 Stars in the latest edition of Maverick Magazine.

Classic FM Magazine 5 Star Album Review
    Friday, December 05 2008 @ 09:48 AM GMT

Richard’s new album “Recuerdos” has just been given a 5 Star review in ClassicFM Magazine (Christmas Edition 2009):

“I had to pause midway through writing this to retrieve my socks, which had been knocked off by Richard Durrant’s extraordinary virtuosity. The majority of the tracks are well known pieces…but Durrant brings such a strong personal interpretation to the music that it’s almost like hearing them with new ears. A simply unmissable treat”. "Argus Weekend" Cover Story
    Wednesday, November 19 2008 @ 08:21 PM GMT

Last weekend saw Brighton's Argus newspaper using Richard as the cover story of their weekend section.  With a circulation of over 40,000 this brought a smile to the office at LongMan Records, ever keen to promote Richard's new album "Recuerdos".

In the event the article focussed on the more bizarre events of the last few years including Richard dropping lobsters on parachutes from a helicopter. All in a day's work for RD!

The unfortunate tabloid coverage of the Kate Bush/EMI saga was also mentioned yet again. This was a bit sad as Richard has always been a big fan and the way the press dressed up this non-story was a bit of a farce. But that wasn't really the fault of the Argus - the story was picked up by the red tops who gave poor old Kate a bit of a drubbing.

The Argus Weekend coverage was much apreciated though. The latest in several appearances in the paper which started with Richard planting a tree on Buxted Rise, Hollingbury with his Mum, sisters and a few mates back in 1972. "Children replace trees destroyed by vandals" screamed the headline. In actual fact the group of kids just fancied planting a tree...

2007 Swindon Advertiser Review uncovered - "Shakespeare meets Bagpuss"
    Tuesday, November 04 2008 @ 07:24 PM GMT

Somebody has just sent us this review of one of Richard's "Whisperer" concerts from last year:

"His laid back, friendly style immediately established a rapport with his sizeable audience. After introducing his exquisite new guitar, named after him by its maker Gary Hearn, he produced a banjo which he described as 'made in a tractor factory in Eastern Europe,' and proceeded to play Bach's Suite in G Major on it, "like Shakespeare meets Bagpuss" as he said.  In his hands it sounded just as legitimate and enticing as the Scarlatti or Tchaikovsky or any of the specialist Spanish guitar composers, whose work he also played."

    Swindon Advertiser July2007
